Kiukuni Primary School
Volunteer in Kiukuni Primary school located in Okia division,
Makueni District. It is in a semi arid area. The school has a
population of 200 pupils and 6 teachers. It is on top of a rocky
hill with a beautiful scene. Their main challenge is poor infrastructure
and clean drinking water. It is quite close to Makuli Forest that
boasts with natural trees and monkeys.

Kiukuni Poultry Project
Finally the chicken coup is complete and the next step is to
stock the chicks to start the project off. The community members
who will be responsible to day-to-day running have already been
trained professionally on how to rear the poultry. For starters,
250 chicks will be introduced and bred for the required period
of time. The idea behind is to venture into sustainable project
that will promote independence within the community and school.
It will ensure that the community will be on the forefront handling
community challenges and initiatives.
Students Volunteers
In 2010 and 2011 we had the highest number of form four candidates
from our High School Education Fund, who completed high school.
Most of these students performed very well to join university
and colleges in the course of 2012. While waiting to join respective
institutions, the students are volunteering through teaching in
different schools across to give back to the community. While
others are teaching, the others will spend their gap year through
other community service such as working in orphanages, work camps
and health centres. Their contribution to community development
is immense and is making a remarkable growth in their respective
fields. The drive behind this is to encourage the youth to give
back to the community through various activities within their
capacity.

Villa Sixteen Children's Home
Villa sixteen children's home is in Taita Taveta County, Coast
Province, approximately 6 hours from Nairobi City Centre and 3
hours from Mombasa City. It was started in order to cater for
the needs of the community particularly children who were abandoned
by their relatives after their parents died of HIV/AIDS scourge.
The home caters for nineteen children between the ages of 5-18
years. Most of these children are HIV/AIDS and on constant medication.
This home just like many others has its own challenges. However,
the children have been able to receive treatment and basic needs
met. The home needs volunteers and assistance in the running because
it is run by only two ladies. This makes it very hard for them
because of too much work involved. We welcome volunteers to come
out and help these children who do not understand why they have
to constantly take medication and visit clinics. Most importantly
we need volunteers who can help them through counselling because
some of them have gone through rough patch in their lives and
also through tuitions (home works) and play with them.
Other schools include Miting'ani, Kyau and Ukia Primary &
Secondary Schools.
